Big doin's today, the 14th of March. Tim and Chris arrived, after going to Bally, PA to pick up my countertops. They installed them, and the top panel of the refrigerator enclosure. Also installed was the sink, the faucet, and the Insinkerator (disposal).
Beginning with the northeast corner, shown is the new counter, microwave, and the front right corner of the fridge.
This is the southwest corner, taken early in the day while the guys were still working. Shown is the new counter, and the dishwasher.
The next two pictures are for those people who have been reading carefully, and have actually expressed an interest in whether or not I ever got my coffeepot into the kitchen. It happened today, largely due to the efforts of Helen at Koffel.
Helen, this one is for you.
Here is a shot of the refrigerator in the enclosure built for it. The fridge is a big one, and used to look entirely too large for the room, but enclosing it and integrating it into the design of the kitchen has made it seem less out of place. Chris has been inserting the panel above the fridge, and I'll picture it when the ttrim is applied.
The new sink, installed in the new countertop, with the new faucet. That is, by the way, one of those faucets that has a pull-out sprayer.
Note the electric wires hanging from the bottom of the cabinets on either side of the window. This will be attached to the under-cabinet lighting, which I assume will be installed on Tuesday when the electrician comes in to hook up the dishwasher, the disposal, the over-sink light, and the kickplate heater. The under-cabinet lighting will be on a dimmer switch.
For the heck of it, a shot of the kitchen, taken from just inside the living room.
Now that I actually have some cabinets, I am doing things to make the most of them. One is a pull-out double trashcan in the cabinet to the right of the sink. More on this kind of stuff later.
Another shot through the door between the kitchen and the living room.
The other thing I got done was the complete disassembly of the temporary kitchen. All gone.
More next week, when the electrician, the mason (for the exterior brickwork), Tim, and Chris are back. The process is drawing to an end.
